The 2020 Oscar nominees are going to be announced on March 15th. I haven’t cared the Oscars since Gandhi beat E.T., but it’s been a tough year so I’m here to give a helping hand. The simple offer: skip the nominations and the ceremony, and go with these, the first ever Darwin’s Gong Show Oscar winners:
Best Picture: Danny Carey | “Pneuma” by Tool (LIVE IN CONCERT)
Best Documentary Feature: Danny Carey | “Pneuma” by Tool (LIVE IN CONCERT)
Best Live Action Short Film: Danny Carey | “Pneuma” by Tool (LIVE IN CONCERT)
Best Original Music Score: Danny Carey | “Pneuma” by Tool (LIVE IN CONCERT)
And so on.
The point isn’t to diminish the ideas and efforts that brought a bunch of great movies (and a ton of mediocre-to-terrible ones) to life in 2020. The point is to highlight the beauty that happens when you mix talent with passion and dedication, and put them in an environment where they are allowed and expected to collaborate and flourish.
